4 Ways to Make New Church Friends

Tips for Making New Church Buddies

There are plenty of people who go to church regularly but feel lonely at the same time. Sometimes it can be hard to make new friends! Not everyone finds it easy to approach new people and it can be especially difficult if you are in the process of moving on from people from your old life.

But don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be as scary as it sounds! Follow these simple tips and you will make new friends in no time at all:

  1. Smile! This might seem obvious, but when you are concentrating on what you want to say and keeping your nerves under control at the same time, it can be easy to forget that smiling makes you more approachable. Just breathe deeply, smile brightly and you will be amazed at the response!
  2. Volunteer – donating your time to Sunday school or other activities that your church need help with is a great ice breaker when it comes to meeting other like-minded individuals.
  3. Go to events – most churches have regular events, such a Bible studies, children’s programs or singles evenings. Choose one that you like the sound of and make it a regular fixture in your diary.
  4. Wear a conversation starter– a great ice breaker is to compliment people on their clothing or jewellery, so why not sport a super awesome bracelet to get the conversation started?
